Fees
The cost for a psychology session is $200.
Missed appointment fees will be charged for missed or cancelled appointments without 24 hours’ notice.
Medicare rebates
Medicare rebates are available with a Mental Health Care Plan from a GP, Psychiatrist or Paediatrician. A Mental Health Care Plan offers individuals living with mental health issues rebates of $129.55 per session with a Clinical Psychologist for up to 10 sessions per calendar year.
To be eligible for the Mental Health Care Rebate, you will need to consult your GP, Psychiatrist, or Paediatrician to discuss and obtain a written referral. When scheduling your GP appointment to discuss a referral, please request a longer appointment with your GP to allow time to complete the referral. Please review the APS Better Access to Mental Health Care for more information.
There are also rebates for people living with a chronic or complex medical illness. Please review the APS chronic disease management webpage for more information
Private Health Insurance
Private health insurance rebates may apply. Please contact your private health insurance provider to find out if you are eligible for a rebate for Clinical Psychology services and the amount you will be rebated.
Please note that Medicare and private health insurance rebates cannot be used for the same session.
Do I need a referral?
It is not a requirement to have a referral. However, a Mental Health Care Plan or private health insurance rebates can help to cover part of the session fee.
